Design Details

Obverse: Features the full-length figure of Lady Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, with the U.S. Capitol building and the rising sun in the background. This design is a "refreshed" version of the iconic 1907 Augustus Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle coin design.

Reverse (Type 2, since mid-2021): Showcases a striking close-up portrait of a majestic bald eagle. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "IN GOD WE TRUST," the denomination "5 DOLLARS," and "1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD".

Reverse (Type 1, 1986-mid-2021): Depicted a male eagle carrying an olive branch, flying above a nest containing a female eagle and her hatchlings.
